April 29 - May 1, 2011
On April 28-May 1 Classic Eventing will host its inaugural Heart of the Carolinas (HOTC) Three-Day Event at Southern Eighths Farm. This Long Format Three-Day Event is the amateur rider’s “Rolex.” It’s the event where Beginner, Novice through Training level riders can negotiate their ultimate Long Format test in a USEA recognized T3D, N3D and BN3D event.
Southern Eighths is located in the middle of USEA Area II and III on the North and South Carolina border. The Farm is specially designed to accommodate and maximize the Long Format experience. From its centrally located “holds” and “starts,” two steeplechase tracks and groomed “roads and tracks” to the special derby course used for show jumping, HOTC is the ultimate test.
The site also includes a cross-country course that was created by well-known course designer Tremaine Cooper. Southern Eighths also has a 38-stall guest barn and RV hookups and has made special arrangements with the local community for those needing accommodations and other necessities.
“Creating your competition support team is your job,” commented Foy Barksdale, Organizer of HOTC. “Ours is to make your team’s stay at Southern Eighths enjoyable, exciting and educational.”
Adult amateur rider Briana Timmerman can speak firsthand about the facility. After riding at a past event Briana commented, “The Southern Eighths event exceeded all possible expectations in terms of organization, educational benefit, and …fun.”
